Ocean Health Omega 3 Review
Probably the product that lent Ocean Health its name, their Omega 3 fish oil supplement is probably the most widely sold, and most widely advertised product, in Singapore at least. It’s also, according to them, the best selling Omega 3 supplement in Singapore, and in major retail chains at least.
They have 2 main versions: Normal, and Odourless. The odourless version is basically the same fish oil with some added lemon oil to cover some of the fish oil odour.
Fish Oil Type
There are 2 main types of fish oil: Ethyl Esters and Triglycerides
Ethyl Esters are cheaper and more common, while Triglycerides are actually how Omega 3 Fish Oils exist in its natural state, but are more expensive to manufacture. Some evidence suggests that triglycerides are more easily absorbed by the body and reduce fish burp occurrences.
Ocean Health Omega 3 Fish Oils are Ethyl Esters, which explains why its price.
Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) come mainly from fish, so they are sometimes called marine omega-3s. This EPA and DHA are the Omega 3 oils that you’re paying for.
Ocean Health Omega 3 Fish Oil contains a very standard 180mg EPA and 120mg DHA for each 1000mg softgel.
Price / Value
Ocean Health Omega 3 Fish Oil usually comes in 60, 180, 250, and strangely, 270, softgel containers.
Discounted prices usually start from about S$17.20 for 60 softgels, to about S$36.80 for the 270 softgel bottle.
Counted on a ‘per softgel’ basis, discounted prices will go from S$0.287/softgel, down to S$0.136/softgel, depending on the size of bottle you choose.
At the time of this review, the best deal is S$36.80, after discount, for the large 270 softgel bottle at Guardian.
At this time, the odourless version only come in 60 softgel bottles, and discounted prices start from S$20.80/bottle.
With each 1000mg softgel containing a standard 180mg EPA and 120mg DHA of omega 3s in Ethyl Ester form, the Ocean Health Omega 3 Fish Oil is an ‘o-k’ product at an ‘o-k’ price.
Naturally, if you get the larger bottles, you’ll save much more, and if you’d rather not touch ordering from outside of Singapore, then, you can’t go wrong with this product.
